ORDER for Weight Restriction for the purpose of managing traffic on Provincial Highway No. 8.

Reference: Weight restriction on Provincial Highway No. 8 from 0.5 km north of the junction of Provincial Highway No. 8 and Provincial Highway No. 49 to the community of Swan Plain at the south boundary of SE-27-36-1-W2.

Pursuant to section 35.1 of The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997, the Minister hereby Orders:

Effective 12:01 AM, May 5, 2015, and thereafter between midnight on March 14 to midnight on November 15 each year until 2020 unless restricted by Minister's Order when the road bed is determined to be inadequately frozen.

Provincial Highway No. 8 from 0.5 km north of the junction of Provincial Highway No. 8 and Provincial Highway No. 49 to the community of Swan Plain at the south boundary of SE-27-36-1-W2.

Shall be restricted as follows:

  • The maximum gross vehicle weight not to exceed 8,000 kg (17,600 lbs);
  • The maximum gross weight on any axle not to exceed 5,500 kg (12,100 lbs).

The restriction does not apply to:

  • Emergency vehicles;
  • Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure vehicles and municipal maintenance equipment when conducting maintenance or accessing sites on or along the restricted highway;
  • SaskPower and SaskTel vehicles when accessing sites along the restricted route;
  • Recreational vehicles; or
  • Buses;
  • Vehicles directly crossing Provincial Highway No. 8 at an intersecting public roadway.

This restriction will also be in effect from the period commencing on November 16 in one year and ending on March 14 of the following year and when the ambient temperature is above -6°C as reported at the City of Yorkton unless restricted by Minister's Order when the road bed is determined to be inadequately frozen.

The 15 Kilometre Rule does not apply under the Order.
